About me
I don’t box myself into a type of designer that describes me. At the heart of it all, I’m a creative, a maker, a thinker, a problem-solver.
In my years in the design industry, I’ve contributed to and led projects that utilize the entire end-to-end design process. I’ve facilitated kickoffs and requirements gathering with clients, research and discovery efforts, conceptual design and prototyping, user testing and validation, detailed design and engineering handoffs, and dev support. I’ve waded through ambiguity, complexity, misalignment, and problems that felt like they couldn’t be solved, in both overwhelmingly fast-paced and agonizingly slow work streams. And I’ve loved all of it.
Designing experiences that really work in the reality of our world is challenging, and so I’m generally distrustful of overly simplistic design. In my experience, it’s less about making experiences “simpler,” and more about respecting the complexity and nuances of a situation and translating them into an experience that makes them accessible to and understandable by all users and mental models. It’s about making our experiences flexible, adaptable, and robust.
What I’m most passionate about is impacting everyday experiences through intentional design. I have a specific soft spot for enterprise solutions for this reason. Revolutionizing the design and tech industry through new technology is fun and exciting, but my empathy lies with the everyday users who work in unmanageable, fragmented, out-dated workflows. It lies in crafting an experience that can bring even the smallest bit of delight and relief to that user. I just want to build things that make a difference.
